Early Day Films is a Bristol based production company founded by Kate Byers and Linn Waite. Their debut feature, BAIT, was received to critical and commercial success, receiving a BAFTA 2020 for Outstanding Debut for Director and Producers. Kate and Linn’s commitment to seeking out and supporting a visionary director also earned them a BIFA for Breakthrough Producer 2019. Early Day celebrates their regional identity and passion for original stories. Having worked with some of the most exciting voices in the Southwest, they are now building a varied slate of arthouse and genre projects with new and established talent, writers and directors. 

Early Day Films is a 2020/22 Vision Award recipient and CE50 company.

LINN WAITE

Linn’s production career formed in Bristol’s vibrant short film culture. She worked in varied production roles on a raft of short films before formalising the move into producing.

Her organisational and business skills transferred to production from a successful earlier career in development consultancy/training, expedition leadership and event management. Linn’s expertise brings together strong teams that blend new talent with mature experience, fostering the essential communication needed between creative and technical areas. She is strongly committed to maintaining the quality and vision within EDF’s slate, while attentive to the business, market, distribution and audience.

KATE BYERS

Kate evolved into producing from a successful acting career where she frequently encountered new writing, devising, and improvised work - collaborating with Mike Leigh, Roger Michell, Mike Alfreds, & Peter Kosminsky. Training in script development in 2005, she worked with South West Screen Digital Shorts, & BBC Dennis Potter Award.

Her early work with Esther May Campbell on award winning Charlie Harry’s Wondrous Nothing established Kate within the South West film making community, working on award-winning short films. 

Her focus in Early Day comes from this developmental background, her passion for working with writers, and her commitment to new artists.
